The RZSS WildGenes biobank facility has recently received a large donation of samples from Paignton Zoo that will be added to the EAZA biobank collection, housed within the RZSS hub. These samples will also be listed on the CryoArks Specify database and can be accessed either through the CryoArks sample request form, or by direct application to the EAZA biobank. There are hundreds of species represented in the collection and CryoArks research fellow, Gill, chats to vet nurse Kelly Damon to find out more about how samples are routinely collected during post-mortem examination and why samples collected from zoo animals are so important for conservation research.
